Extreme Makeover

Something I learned from the UBP 2010 sponsored by 5 Minutes For Mom is that my blog was severely lacking visually. Hopefully this is a little bit better. :) One day I WILL learn how to design my own templates. But this one was perfect for my little space here because a little known fact (at least to those who don't know me) is that I LOVE giraffes.

Did you know that each giraffe has it's own thumb print? Humans have their own unique thumb print and giraffes have their own unique coat pattern. No spot pattern on a giraffe is the same on another giraffe. Pretty cool huh?

The lion is the only animal that poses a significant threat to a giraffe. Giraffes defend themselves with some serious karate moves--according to Wikipedia, "a single well-placed kick from an adult giraffe can shatter a lion's skull or break its spine." If I could be any animal, it would most definitely be a giraffe. Plus, I like to be in control at all times, so it seems to me that giraffes would have a pretty great vantage point.

  1. You are not alone! I love giraffes too. At our zoo, they have a stand at their enclosure where they come up to you, and you can feed them and pet them on the head a bit. This spring our zoo has two baby giraffes that were born over the winter that will be on view. I can't wait to go see them when the zoo opens at the end of this month.

  2. As you already know, I love giraffes, too! (GiraffeDreams blog) They are gentle animals who have no enemies other than lions, as you state, and probably humans who are enemies to everyone, even themselves. My big dream is to visit Botswana and (if possible) to see giraffes in their own wild habitat. Too cool to even dream about!!
